I bought a headset for my YA Lit class. We'll be meeting in real time in Second Life and the prof recommended buying a headset.
It's something I've resisted doing, in part because I fear it's another step down the slippery slope that leads to me sitting on my couch all day (and eventually all night) playing World of Warcraft. But I have used Skype a bit recently, and I've noticed a definite difference between the audio quality of people with headsets and those without. Plus, I kind of like the idea of being able to record better podcasts.
And, also, I secretly yearn for the day when I can give in to my almost inevitable descent into WOW addiction.
So I bought a headset.
And I love it already.
It is comfy. It makes things easy to hear. I recorded a Voicethread (for the same YA Lit class) and the sound quality was SO much better than just using the built-in computer mike.
If I weren't meeting a friend for lunch, I would join WOW right now.
(Who am I kidding? I already took a break from writing this post to check out the WOW Beginner's Guide.)
In conclusion: USB Headset is awesome. It is also a gateway drug that will inevitably lead to even more screen time than I already log. I can't wait.
